Hannah and Chris dreamed of a stress-free summer wedding in a setting that was both welcoming and spectacular. They wanted to throw the party of the year with a fantastic evening reception and ensure each and every guest had a great time.
The couple always knew that finding the right venue would be hard – they had high expectations after all. In total, they viewed 21 venues in Surrey – Farnham Castle being the last one they looked at. “It was impossible not to fall for Farnham Castle,” smiles Hannah. “As soon as we stepped foot into the grounds we both got that warm fuzzy feeling and knew it was the one,” she adds. After exploring the castle wedding venue and learning of its many perks, it wasn’t long before they sealed the deal.
Farnham Castle’s neutral colour palette and style were the perfect backdrop for the couple’s summer ball wedding theme. Using a pretty colour scheme of Victorian lilac, the pair’s wedding stylist decorated the venue with flowers and pretty candelabras. Hannah and Chris also added a few personal details of their own. They put selfie sticks on every table and added a touch of quirky décor to reflect their personalities. “The final design took my breath away,” smiles Hannah. “I never imagined the Castle looking as beautiful as it did on our special day – it was so much more than I had dreamed of.”
To complement the Castle’s elegance and regal charm, Hannah opted for a gorgeous lace dress. She teamed her A-line gown with a Stella York laced jacket and a sparkly belt for a touch of bridal glam. A simple tiara finished off her look and was paired with a lace edged cathedral veil.
Hannah stayed at Farnham Castle’s onsite accommodation the night before the wedding to ensure a stress-free morning of preparations. While Hannah arrived at the Surrey wedding venue relaxed and in one piece, the same can’t be said for the couple’s wedding cake. “On the way from Epsom to Farnham, the bottom tier of the cake collapsed and was unable to be salvaged,” laughs Hannah. “We’d actually added an extra tier as we couldn’t whittle our flavour choices down to three. There was still more than enough cake with just three tiers and luckily no-one knew of the morning’s catastrophe.”
The pair also took up the services of Jay Tough, a local toastmaster, to help co-ordinate their big day. “He was brilliant,” smiles Hannah. “He kept our guests in check while entertaining them and added that extra edge.”
The celebrations began with canapés and a wedding breakfast. Having heard good things about the Castle’s wedding food, the couple opted for the deluxe menu. “All the food was amazing and we got to enjoy a few upgrades along the way too,” smiles Hannah.
Into the night, the pair partied with family and friends to the sounds of their live band. “They really got the party started and made the Castle come alive. It was fantastic!” smiles Hannah.
“Do invest in a videographer if your budget allows. Even though everyone says that the day flies by, you don’t realise how fast it goes until you experience it yourself.
“Having a videographer would have allowed us to relive the day over and over again.”
