Louisa and Nick wanted more than just a gathering for all their family and friends; they wanted to plan a classically simple wedding with a perfect party – one their guests would remember for all the right reasons. Of course, finding the right setting for their ultimate celebration was key, alongside fabulous food and fantastic on-site accommodation for all the party revellers…
Louisa and Nick didn’t need much convincing to book Farnham Castle for their wedding day. “The moment we walked in we knew it was the one,” smiles Louisa. The couple fell in love with the beautiful grounds, the impressive Great Hall and the light, bright and airy atmosphere – something that was high on their wedding wishlist for their simple wedding. “We knew it would work perfectly for what we had planned,” adds Louisa.
Farnham’s classic styling and neutral colour scheme were two of the things the couple loved most about the venue and made it fit perfectly with the beautifully simple wedding that they had in mind. Already beautiful, the pair felt little need to add too many additional details. “Our overall style was classic and simple,” explains Louisa. “We paired blush and cream colours with accents of navy and green, and used hurricane lamps and posy vases across the venue,” she adds.
Just like her décor, Louisa was keen to adopt the classic look when it came to her attire. She wore a Mori Lee gown, which featured off the shoulder sleeves and a fishtail cut, and teamed it with a fingertip satin trimmed veil.
Louisa’s bridesmaid and groom wore colours to tie in with the couple’s colour scheme. While Louisa’s bridesmaid wore blush, Nick wore navy – the accent colour of the day.
Louisa and Nick enjoyed a whole day of wedding celebrations at Farnham Castle. In fact, Louisa arrived at the Castle bright and early so she could get ready with her bridal party at the pretty Gatehouse. From here, Louisa had to walk just a few steps to the Lantern Hall, where the happy couple tied the knot.
Once the formalities were over and they said ‘I do’ at their simple wedding, the fun could really begin. “We wanted everyone to get roaring drunk and to have a brilliant time,” laughs Louisa. The celebrations began with strawberries and champagne, followed by a civilised wedding breakfast featuring all of the couple’s favourite foods. They had a smoked bacon Scotch egg starter, roast rump of lamb main, and for pudding, they tucked into a vanilla cheesecake with raspberry coulis.
The celebrations continued well into the night with friends and family really giving it their all on the dance floor. “There were a few trousers that split while throwing shapes on the dance floor!” laughs Louisa.
Louisa and Nick also wanted everyone to stay the night and celebrate with a special breakfast the following day – so Farnham’s expansive on-site accommodation was ideal for the couple’s needs. “It was a real perk to have everyone stay over,” smiles Louisa.
“Make time to enjoy the day too. I wish I’d eaten more of the lovely food. As we spent so much time walking around and chatting to people during the wedding breakfast, we hardly touched the food!”
