Real Wedding – Splashes of Colour at this Rainbow Wedding

Mark and Hayley wanted to find a wedding venue that would take away all the stresses of their big day – a venue to look after all their little requirements, and a setting to add to the atmosphere of their magical rainbow wedding day…

The venue

It wasn’t long before Mark and Hayley found the venue of their dreams. In fact, Farnham Castle was just the second venue the pair visited. “We fell in love with it straight away,” smiles Hayley. “The Lantern Hall was perfect for the ceremony and the Castle had amazing grounds,” she adds. “I was also able to feel like a true princess getting ready at the venue.”

The styling

The couple’s rustic rainbow wedding styling complemented the history and charm of the Castle perfectly. As the colour scheme of the Castle is fairly neutral, Mark and Hayley could add lots of colour without it looking out of place. “We bought lots of decorations for the venue and had a document to explain exactly how we wanted everything laid out,” explains Hayley. “The team looked after all our requirements on the day itself.”

Hearts were another important part of the couple’s décor and were reflected in the bridesmaids’ outfits too. “Their dresses were dark grey with a heart cut out between the shoulder blades,” explains Hayley. Each dress also tied into the couple’s colourful theme with each bridesmaid wearing a different coloured petticoat with matching ribbon sleeves, perfect for a rainbow wedding.

The dress

Hayley wowed her friends and family in a chic lace dress, styled with a touch of pink to add to the other colours at her rainbow wedding! Keen to add a bit of colour to her look, she teamed her dress with hot pink shoes, a pink and white belt, and a pink and white headpiece for her hair.

The big day

Hayley and Mark tied the knot on the 30th November 2014. Hayley arrived at the venue early in the morning to get ready, while Mark arrived with his groomsmen later that day.

The pair said ‘I do’ in the charming Lantern Hall, before making the most of the photo opportunities in the grounds and enjoying a feast in the Great Hall.

The celebrations

Food played a huge role in the day and the couple were keen to wow their guests with an impressive menu. “We decided to go for the top package offered by the Galloping Gourmet team and it was amazing!” smiles Hayley. “All our guests said there was lots of food and that they were stuffed from eating it all!” she laughs. The couple and their wedding party enjoyed ham hock to start, lamb two ways for their main and a trio of desserts for pudding. Come evening they feasted on sausage rolls and cheese pastries.

The couple’s celebrations continued well into the night with things getting a little heated with a dance-off! “Mark’s six year old niece and his old school friend decided to have a big of a competition on the dance floor,” laughs Hayley. “It was definitely a comedy moment of the day!”

Hayley’s top tip:

“I know a lot of people say it but the day really does fly by, so enjoy every moment.”
